About Ratings for Footballers
Ratings for Footballers is a one-person project that publishes a single number for player contribution in Europe’s top five leagues: the NVC Score. Analysis is published under the name NVC Ratings.
Baseball has WAR. Football coverage still leans on goals, assists, and match ratings that are hard to compare across leagues. NVC is built for that gap. It estimates how much a player contributed relative to a realistic replacement-level player, after adjusting for league strength, opponent quality, and team style.
We update the table every Tuesday or Wednesday from the latest match data. The site is the public notebook for that ranking: the live table, the method, and short notes on what the current list is actually saying.
NVC is not a live 0–10 match rating and not a scouting report. It does not measure leadership, tactical fit, or off-ball detail that event data misses. It is a quantitative baseline so that a Rayo Vallecano forward and a Premier League forward can be discussed on the same scale.
