Readers used to goals-first lists will look for Erling Haaland at the top and will not find him there. In this update he is an excellent-starter NVC profile, not an elite 90+ one.
That is not the model “ignoring” goals. Goals are in the attacking component. NVC also charges the rest of the game: creation, progression, defensive contribution, minutes, opponent strength, and league context. A player whose value is concentrated in finishing can rank below a player who drives chance creation and ball progression every week.
WhoScored-style match ratings answer “how did he play tonight?” NVC answers “how much value above replacement has he accumulated in this sample?” Those questions produce different leaderboards. They should.
If you want the finishing race, use goals. If you want a WAR-style ranking across the Big 5, use the table on the homepage.
